Memento Jotter (PIM) Software |
PuritySoft Memento Jotter is a Thought Operating
System. Among other things, the software helps you keep track of
your free-form snippets of information using text, multimedia, and
even external documents like MS Word .doc file. Because under the
covers Memento Jotter is also a powerful database (up to 4
terabytes of data), you can easily organize and search that data
in different ways. For starters, Jotter can keep track of such
things as: Assertions, Convictions, Chores, Bugs, Dreams,
Heuristics, Ideas, Inspirations, Memories, Methods of how to do
something, Passwords, Predictions, Questions, Todos, Create Your
own...

General Navigation
In Memento Jotter, you are always looking at one record at a
time. for each module window. You view the record from
different perspectives or views by using the Tabs.
Each tab provides a report (consistently found as the last
tab to the right). The navigation bar allows you create,
delete or find records.

In Memento Jotter, you are always looking at one record

may provide a report (consistently found as the last tab to
the right).
The navigation bar allows you create, delete or find
records. To the right, you can select the Realm of this
record including Home, Play, Social, or Work.There might be
cases where a particular issue goes across all or some
realms. You can initially leave them all unselected if you
are not sure.
This “optional” field entry is encouraged through the
application. Memento allows you to always go back and
reorganize and tries to get out of your creative mind.
Text Tab
The view to the right has the Text tab selected. You should
start here, because it’s likely the most fluent manner to a
new jot. However, feel free to experiment. For instance, you
may want to record a message using the Media tab.
While optional, you may have date-related jots that require
you to track completion and hence we provide you the
extended completion functionality.

Web Tab
There will be records that are associated with a web site
and/or passwords.
Passwords:
We have taken careful consideration to minimize exposure of
your user ids and passwords even on the screen.
To move the passwords around, you can copy them through the
clipboard and paste them where you need them.
Most keyloggers do not look at your clipboard. Should you
need to send yourself (or someone else) password information
via email, Memento facilitates a Hint mechanism that binds
your passwords to hints or pointers. It is recommended that
you build new passwords using a combination of these hints.
That way, you never have to expose or memorize the actual
password.

You can also use this tab as a way to store frequently used
words or phrases that you can copy and paste as needed.

Media Tab
Here is where Memento Jotter really shines. You can
associate one media piece of information to a jot record.
This media can be anything: sounds, images, QuickTime
movies, or embedded documents (or even applications) of any
type. In some ways, Memento can be used as a file system
that is more in tune with the way YOU work. Embedded
documents: These are Objects that can live inside a Memento
Jot record, as opposed to the file system. They can be
edited from inside Memento and hence can become part of the
Memento Jotter searching engine. A Jot database can be up to
4 terabytes of disk size. Some ideas: With media as fields
in records, you can create your own associated records (with
identical titles) with a combination of picture and movie
albums along with annotation, you can also create backup
systems –don’t forget to backup your Jotter database! If
Memento Jotter comes short on some capability, why not embed
an application that complements it? The possibilities are up
to you!

List Tab
All Views provide a List View where you can look at all of
the common records. These reports are context sensitive. For
instance, if you are viewing the Web tab with the Passwords
extended (plus/minus signs) and you click on the report tab,
you will be taken to a more specific password-related
report.
A word About Organization
Unlike most programs, Memento Jotter tries to stay out of
your way by enforcing as little structure as possible. So,
leave fields blank. Jot what is in your mind and worry about
organization later. Also, associating other records is very
powerful. You could always create more structure if needed.
For instance, you can add more structure by creating records
with the same title and bind that information via the
powerful Find feature and view it by title, or Type, or
sub-category.
